NH House-Legislative UpdateWelcome to my website. I have spent the last five years in Concord working for low taxes, small government and minimal but sensible regulation. For the first time in over 150 years all three branches of government are under Democratic control. This past year has shown that there are clear and significant differences in the way the two parties govern. In June we passed a budget which increased general fund spending by 17.5%. It included over $400M of new spending, $185M in new taxes and fees, and spent at three times the rate of inflation. This compares to an average 9.9% increase over the past five budgets under Republican leadership. This rate of growth is unsustainable. Democrats can't spend at this rate without a willingness to consider a broad based tax down the road. We are at risk of losing the NH Advantage, our long tradition of low taxes and small government which has resulted in our economic success. I have chosen to set up this site so I can communicate what is happening in Concord each week. Updates will appear under the "NH Update" link on the left.
